‧By flight：

You may take a flight to Hualien from Taipei, Taichung or Kaohsiung, or to Taitung from Taipei. Then, you may take other transportations to arrive at the scenic spots of the East Rift Valley.

‧By car：

1. From the north

Take National Highway No.5 (a.k.a. Taipei-Yilan Expressway) if you depart between Xindian in Taipei County and Toucheng in Yilan County. Switch to National Highway No.9 (a.k.a. Suhua Highway) at Suao Interchange and head for Hualien.
If you depart from other places, also take National Highway No.5 and Switch to National Highway No.9 at Suao Interchange and head for Hualien.

2.From the south

Take National Highway No.1 and arrive in Fenggang, Pingtung County. From there, take National Highway No.9 (a.k.a. South Link Highway) and drive northward to reach Taitung.
Take National Highway No.20 (a.k.a. Southern Cross-Island Highway) and switch to National Highway No.9. Drive northward for Hualien or southward for Taitung.

3. From central Taiwan

Take National Highway No.14 to arrive in Lushan, Renai Township, Nantou County. From there, take National Highway No.14-A to first pass by Wushe, also in Renai Township, Nantou County, before reaching Dayuling in Xiulin Township, Hualien County. Switch to National Highway No.8 (a.k.a. Central Cross-Island Highway), pass by Tianxiang, Taroko Gorge and Xincheng, and drive on towards the south along National Highway No.9 to arrive in Hualien.
Otherwise, follow the directions for a trip departing from northern Taiwan to arrive in Hualien.
Follow the directions for a trip departing from south Taiwan to arrive in Taitung.
