Chulu Pasture

Chulu Pasture was set up in 1973, and this pasture has the longest history of any large scale tourist pasture in the Taitung area. In early years, tourists visiting Taitung would be sure to tour this scenic spot. The National Property Administration originally authorized the Land Bank to manage this area. In 2005, after this management period came to an end, management was transferred to local business people. Chulu Pasture is only 18 kilometers from Taitung, on a plateau with an elevation of 200 to 390 meters above sea level. The gentle mountain slopes, good drainage, abundant rain, and mild climate all create a temperate zone that allows a large amount of alfalfa to be grown as food for dairy cattle. Alfalfa grass is high-quality forage grass, allowing dairy cattle to produce superior milk. Thus, Chulu Pasture’s milk products come with a golden-brand guarantee of quality.

Chulu Pasture, which occupies an area of around 60 hectares, breeds over 400 milk cows. The pasture is divided into different areas, including a grazing area, a grass play area, a feeding area and a forest bathing area. Looking down from the grazing area's scenic observation platform, all one sees is an endless, bright green pasture area, interspersed with one black cow after another, creating a beautiful pastoral scene. There are bundles of dried forage grass in the grass play area, allowing visitors to experience the fun of playing in the grass. One large bundle of dried grass after another, scattered in the verdant green pasture area, creates the appearance of a foreign country, and allows the visitors to experience the unique pasture work activities. In the feeding area, visitors can personally come up close to the adorable cows and feed them fresh grass. This is a favorite activity with the children.

Every afternoon, visitors can watch the cows lining up to be milked. After this fresh milk has been sterilized by brief heating, the nutrition and taste are fully preserved, and it becomes the incomparably thick, fragrant Chulu Milk. In addition, visitors to the pasture can sample various milk products, including the 100% fresh milk popsicles, ice cream, soft ice cream, and condensed milk, all of which taste incomparably and unforgettably delicious!
