Fenglin Township

The Hakka Township
Fenglin Township is located in the most central part of the East Rift Valley, in a lush and green forest area interspersed with streams. It provides visitors with abundant cultural and historical landscape resources. Visitors can
embrace the leisurely and carefree atmosphere while strolling the country lanes, enjoying the open country scenery, and taking in the natural, green, mountain-filled atmosphere.

Many forest rest areas have been set up in this township, and visitors can walk the greenery-lined footpaths and listen to the sounds of the birds and insects as they breathe in the phytoncidere. They will find this to be a totally relaxing experience.

The Zhaofeng Leisure Farm is located beside the highway in Linrong Village, Fenglin Township, and there is a large, eye-catching sculpture of a standing milk-cow at the entrance. This recreation and activity center currently blends farming, forestry, fishing, and herding. You can also visit Lintian Mountain. As you enter, you will see many Japanese-style tiled houses standing erect in the mountains. Here was where Taiwan’s early Forestry Bureau set up a residential community for their forestry center employees. The lively scenes of that time are no more, and as tourists visit here they can imagine themselves going back in time to the days when this was a thriving forest community.

Fenglin Township is famous for its Hakka community. When you go, be sure to visit the Fenglin Hakka Cultural Museum, where you can experience the Hakka spirit of land reclamation. In addition, don’t forget to sample some of the very famous Hakka dishes. Their special products include salty and crispy peanuts, healthy black soybean milk, yulan wormwood cakes, skinned chili peppers, Hakka flat rice noodles, etc.
