Showcasing the Tribal Flavors of Mountain and Sea under the Theme of “Preservation”–East Longitudinal Valley Festival: Tribal Food Paradise Officially Launches!
Hosted by the East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the East Longitudinal Valley Festival: Tribal Food Paradise will take place from August 29 to August 31, 2025, celebrating its remarkable 5th anniversary milestone. This year’s theme, “Preservation,” highlights the culinary secrets of smoking, curing, and fermentation. For the first time, a three-day summer festival combining tribal delicacies, marketplaces, handicrafts, and experiential activities will be organized—preserving not only flavors but also memories of life.
On August 29, the festival opens with the 5th Anniversary Tribal Food Paradise (ticketed event), where East Longitudinal Valley Festival brand partners will showcase authentic tribal cuisine, curated selections of merchandise, and captivating music and dance performances. Through these sensory experiences, the event fosters meaningful connections among people, while celebrating our love for tribal heritage and life.
In this year’s event, all food vendors at the marketplace will feature at least one “Preservation” dish—such as smoked meats, Siraw Mumu Rice, pickled Chinese onion, and desserts made from distiller’s grains. Nearly 100 tribal specialties will be presented, each bite infused with the wisdom of time-honored traditions.
Beyond the delicious food, there are also hands-on experiences. At Mountain Hunting Ground, House of Aesthetics, and Mumu Kitchen, visitors will participate in wilderness survival workshops offered by Qowgan hunters, skilled craftsmen, and culinary experts. Activities include crafting traps using commonly found materials; dyeing with local plants and weaving with shell ginger leaves; and connecting with the land through smoking meats or making jams.
