With the successful conclusion of the 2025-2026 Taiwan Hot Spring - Hot Springs Island Tours series, East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, MOTC has officially announced a new milestone in Taiwan's hot spring promotion—one that moves toward preventive medicine and health promotion. To support this initiative, East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Headquarters  specially invited Dr. Chen Chia-mien, Director of the Department of Family Medicine and Infection Control Office at Tri-Service General Hospital Beitou Branch, to jointly produce a short health promotion video on hot spring wellness. The video is currently being broadcast in rotation at more than 100 clinics across Taiwan, inviting the public to rediscover the health-promoting appeal of Taiwan's premium hot springs.

Professional Medical Guidance: More Than 100 Clinics Nationwide Promote Hot Spring Bathing Therapy

As an island rich in diverse hot spring qualities, Taiwan offers easy access to hot spring areas that are often located near urban centers, making bathing therapy highly accessible to the public. However, how to soak in a way that truly supports health is a professional matter. In the video, Dr. Chen especially emphasizes that proper hot spring bathing is key to health promotion, and he provides safety indicators for soaking while also reminding that elderly people and children should always be accompanied by family or friends when entering the bath to ensure safety, making every hot spring experience a reassuring and restorative one.

Thermal Effects and Physical-Mental Relaxation: A New Lifestyle for Health and Wellness

Dr. Chen further explains that the warming effect of hot springs can effectively relieve muscle tension and promote the body's metabolism. Certain spring qualities may also help improve the complexion and support skin care. However, he also reminds visitors that hot spring therapy is not suitable for everyone. People with a fever, who are pregnant, experiencing severe bleeding, living with cancer, or suffering from serious heart, lung, liver, or kidney disease should not soak in hot springs. Through a professional medical perspective, the Valley Headquarters hopes to convey a new wellness concept: "soak in hot springs properly, and the body will stay healthy." Hot spring bathing can serve as both preventive medicine and daily health maintenance.

The Valley Headquarters Director Hsu Tsung-min: Creating New Value in Wellness Tourism for All

Director Hsu Tsung-min of East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Headquarters  stated that, through Dr. Chen Chia-mien's professional advice, Taiwan Hot Spring hopes to elevate hot spring travel from simple leisure into a health promotion movement for all. The public is sincerely invited to visit the Taiwan Hot Spring YouTube channel to watch the full video and plan an in-depth wellness bathing journey.

At the same time, to expand the benefits of hot spring health education, East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Headquarters has officially opened applications for authorization to use this video starting today. Hot spring tourism promotion organizations, preventive medicine institutions, wellness and healthcare promotion organizations, and clinics of all levels across Taiwan that wish to advocate scientific hot spring bathing concepts are welcome to submit authorization applications through the official East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Headquarters website and help bring correct wellness knowledge to more people.
