■ Ercengping sea of flowers
Ercengping is known as the "Water Flowing Upward” of the East Longitudinal Valley. Due to the terrain features, the water cannot be guided downstream to irrigate the farmland, so a unique two-layer bridge was built, creating the optical illusion that water is flowing upward.

The red and white bricked two-layer arch bridge, with the boundless sea of garden cosmos on both sides, constitutes a retro and beautiful scenery. It has become a newly emerged flower viewing spot in Taitung.

■ Wuling Green Tunnel
Wuling Green Tunnel is located in the Wuling section of Provincial Highway 9, with a total length of 4.5 kilometers. The camphor trees and whistling pine trees along both sides of the road shade the charming green tunnel. The 2626 market is held on Saturdays of even-numbered weeks.

Watching the sunlight cast through the leaves and feeling the cool breeze gently blows, with only few vehicles coming and going, it is most suitable for lying on the shady roadside or riding a bicycle here. You can enjoy the slow-paced life here.

■ Mr. Brown Avenue
A small road in the fields in Chishang Township, Taitung County is lined with rice waves swaying in the wind. It became popular for being the shooting location for a Mr. Brown Coffee TV commercial. It is also known as the "green road to paradise."

The vast, verdant rice fields turning golden, combined with the undulating mountains in the distance, are just like a beautiful postcard. Cycling or walking in the endless rice fields, you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery.

■ Golden trumpet trees in Xingquanzun
During the blossom season of golden trumpet trees, there comes a fad of people chasing the flowers. Xinquanzun is located at the junction of Guangfu and Ruisui. In March, the golden flowers would bloom. With the green mountains in the distance as the backdrop, in the flowing stream water, you can see the golden reflections, which is as beautiful as an oil painting. It has become a recent hot spot for Instagram and Facebook photos.

■ Liyu Lake
Liyu Lake is located at the foot of Liyu Mountain in Chinan Village, Shoufeng Township. It is named Liyu Lake for being adjacent to Liyu Mountain in the east. Recently, the featuring of the Muscovy duck and the evening light and water show have made the Lake a must-see attraction in Hualien.

Around Liyu Lake, there is a well-planned bicycle path, lake tours, and other fun activities suitable for a family trip. Taste the local specialties, live jumping shrimp; and enjoy the slow pace here.

■ Mataian Wetland
Mataian Wetland is located in Guangfu Township, Hualien. It is a natural marsh wetland with gushing springs. It breeds a wealth of wildlife including birds, frogs, and benthic fish. In summer, the blooming lotus always brings many visitors.

The Amis people living here have developed a unique Palakaw ecological fishing method. It will not only give you a great lesson on nature and ecology, but also provides you with freshly caught fish and shrimps. Enjoy a feast of indigenous cooking here such as salt-baked tilapia and stone hotpot.

■ Daquan Community/Lasoay Spring
Walking into Alley 82, the Story Street of Daquan Community, you will notice the short walls are covered by colorful paintings, which not only document how farming was done in the old days, but also pass on the memories of the farmers, letting more people know the hard work in farming in the past.

Near Story Street, there is a lesser known, secluded place, the Lasoay Spring, whose enchanting blue water earned it the name, Blue Tears.

■ Kecheng Bridge
During springtime, the colorful sea of flowers form an interesting contrast against the bright red Kecheng Bridge. In summer, the bridge echoes with the green rice field in a different way. In autumn during harvest time, the golden rice waves and the red bridge together look like a painting. After harvesting, you can see the beautiful reflection of the bridge in the paddy field.

With the changing of seasons, the passing trains and Kecheng Bridge have different looks, making it a popular spot for photography and railway enthusiasts.

■ Dongli Station
On average, about 20 people enter and exit Dongli Station every day. It might seem insignificant, but it is known as "the most beautiful railway station on the Mountain line." As soon as you walk onto the platform, you will be amazed by the beautiful scenery in front of you. Boundless green fields stretch in front of your eyes, with the tiny Dongli Station in the middle, surrounded by fields.

County Road 193 is the longest county road in Taiwan, starting from Nansanzhan, Xincheng Township in the north to Lehe, Yuli Township. The total length of this popular cycling route is 110.92 kilometers. Riding on County Road 193, you are accompanied by the scenery of blue sky, white clouds, lush mountains, and clear waters along the way. As the season changes, you can also enjoy the red poinciana flowers, the golden shower trees, and the endless waves of rice. You can even watch the sea of clouds rushing down from the mountains and feel absolutely satisfied. The unique scenery on the road in the East Longitudinal Valley is highly enjoyable.

■ Yuzhan Nursery of Trees
Where the bald cypress forest went viral on the Internet, the beauty of Yuzhan Nursery of Trees is deemed no less than that of Yunshanshui's. During the bald cypress season, visitors flock to this spot.

Around the crossing from autumn to winter, bald cypresses gradually turn from green to yellow. The area covered by golden and splendid forest is reflected in the water, while koi fish swims in the water, adding some liveliness to this his almost Scandinavian scenery.

■ Lintian Mountain Forestry Cultural Park
Lintian Mountain Forest Station, known as "Little Shanghai" in the past, was called Morisaka in Japanese. It was once the fourth largest forest station in Taiwan, only after Baxian Mountain, Alishan, and Taiping Mountain.

Time has passed and the former glory of Lintian Mountain has gradually disappeared but the rich cultural relics are preserved in the park, such as various logging tools and traditional fire-fighting tools, which are displayed in the Forestry Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall of Lintian Mountain. Visitors can have a glimpse of the glorious past of the forestry industry.

■ Danong Dafu South Circular Bicycle Path
Danong Dafu Forest Park covers an area of 1,250 hectares and is rich in nature and ecology. There are the north and south circular bicycle paths in the park. Common Elaeocarpus, Formosan sweet gum, and green maple are planted on both sides of the bicycle path. At the crossing of autumn to winter, the leaves will gradually turn from green to yellow, and then to red. The colorful "Maple Road" attracts many visitors to see the maples and take pictures.

How to get to the South Circular Bicycle Path: Go south from the Danong Dafu Forest Park Visitor Center, pass the colorful "fishing rod" bridge, and then you will arrive.

■ Ruisui Hot Spring
Developed by the Japanese as early as 1919, Ruisui Hot Spring is a mildly alkaline "chloride carbonate spring". When the iron in the spring water is oxidized, a layer of yellow cloudy crystals with a slight rust smell forms on the water surface—it is called "water flower" or "hot spring flower." Because of this, this hot spring is known as the "Golden Spring"—the spring of new born boys. There are many hot spring houses or hot spring B&Bs of different price range and styles, allowing visitors to relax and recharge in the hot spring.
